We decided to venture a bit further afield and went towards Rossinver, Co. Leitrim today. Here you find Fowley's falls, probably one of the best kept secrets in North Leitrim.

It is here that the Glenanniff river has eroded the blue limestone to form a deep river valley. The river cascades through the valley in a series of drops over the exposed bedrock to finally end up in Lough Melvin . There is  a lovely walkway which follows the river and gives spectacular views of the waterfalls. The walk is about 3km in lenght ( Be aware it is not a circular walk).

The path is great fun for old and young as it follows the river, sometimes climbing out of the valley giving spectacular views of the river below. Take into account that a good few steps need to be taken during this walk. The path has been extensively renovated and is in great condition.

At one stage, you need to cross a metal bridge which crosses a sidearm of the Glenanniff river, giving you an idea how deep the river has eroded the local rocks.
