Hooked, Co.Sligo

Getting hooked to something can sometimes take a while, sometimes it takes a lifetime and in some cases it happens almost immediately.
The newly Hooked restaurant falls under the last category, from the moment you walk in, you get a sense of having walked in a modern well established restaurant.
We were quickly shown our table and handed the menu, but it took me a while to glance an eye on the solid taste bud tantalizing menu.
Why? Because i was to busy looking at the interior, and it must be said, it is the interior which sets this restaurant apart.
From the different chairs to the boat suspended from the ceiling, from the painted butcher tiles to the 100's of different lights, it is quirky.
Hooked only opened it's doors in Sligo in November '17  and is owned by Anthony Gray. Anthony is a well known name on the Irish food scene. Anthony was the former president of RAI and is also the proprieter of another Sligo restaurant called Eala bhan.

Hooked is probably Anthony's most personal venture. Anthony's father had a busy family butcher on Teeling street, and it is the references to the butcher which can be found back in the fabulous interior.
Hooked is open for breakfast, bruch and dinner. We found ourselves in Hooked for Brunch. So after having admired the interior , all eyes were on the menu.
The menu has a great selection, some of them are golden oldies (Knickerbocker Glory), but all of them are presented with a modern twist.
So what is Hooked about - it is about local ingredients, quality food with a bit of Quirkiness thrown in.
It is this quirkiness which can be found back in the interior, the signs and art in this little gem along the Garavogue.
As for the quality, it can be found everywhere, even the website ( hookedsligo.ie/ ) looks fantastic. And we can say that the website shows the detail Anthony puts in it's establishments.
So are we Hooked, yes we are.

After a bit of deliberation , I decided to go for the OMD Dirty Dog where Dolores selected the Corned beef Hash cakes.
After a short enough wait, we got our food served.
The OMD Dirty Dog was on old fashioned hotdog with a modern twist. And I probably shouldn't call it a hotdog as it is so much more than a "just" hotdog.  Nicely presented on a wooden tray/chopping block, i found a sausage in a fresh bread roll, on top of it beautiful stewed onions and chilli mustard. On the site, handcut chips and homemade slaw. It must be said I am not a big fan of slaw, but this was just devine as there were small peppers on top.
Dolores got the corned beef hash cakes , 2 of them with 2 fried eggs on the side. On top of the eggs was pickle and chopped chives.
