Walking in Co.Sligo

Co. Sligo is turning into a hikers paradise. There are many waymarked walks in co.Sligo ranging from  a short 2km walk to a decent 74km long distance path.

It is also great to see that Sligo co.co. has been investing a lot of time and effort in upgrading these walkways.
For example, the Sligo Way just received a new boardwalk from Slish Wood to the Millenium forest.
This walk, or should we say the whole 74km of it, passes through forests, passes streams and lakes, and brings you in close encounter with deer,.... it is the perfect way of discovering the lesser known Sligo.
Co.Sligo is a walkers paradise, from hiking up Benbulben to a relaxing coastal walk to walking in the hidden Glen, there is a different walk for each day of the week.
And Sligo has a good selection of very active walking clubs which have a very active calendar (

And we have to admit, i never really liked walking/hiking. It was to slow, I always had a preference to cycle. But i must say, i love walking now. Nothing beats heading out on a trail after work and meeting a badger walking slowly across your path, or meeting another walker which comes from a far away country and sharing some local knowledge with them or just having the friendly chat, or watching the sunset along the Killaspugbrone loop .
