What do you do on a Saturday afternoon in November? We love going for spins in the car, so we decided to venture to neighbouring co.Leitrim, more precisely Glencar waterfall.
When we arrived at the waterfall, we decided to give the Tea Shed a try as we hadn't been in it yet. There is a great playground for kids outside the Tea Shed which is fully enclosed for safety and there is a south facing patio outside the Tea Shed which provides views towards Glencar lake.
The building itself blends nicely into the landscape with it's wooden cladding. In the lobby of the building is a great tourism display which provides different leaflets on all Leitrim tourist attractions. Inside the tearoom is plenty of seating, there are even some comfortable couches around a woodfire.
We ordered tea , chocolate milk, latte and 2 slices of cake. Where the drinks were priced normally, the cakes were in our view overpriced. Although the carrot cake was also a bit on the dry side, we still finished it. The chocolate milks came with marshmallows, and flakes, so they were nicely presented. The Tea Shed also does soups, sandwishes,.... , so maybe we will try one of these the next time. Afterwards, we walked to the waterfall just before it got dark.
Glencar waterfall is always worth a visit, and although the cake was on the expensive side, we believe that the tea Shed will keep on growing due to it's brilliant location, it's south facing patio and the fenced in playground.
