The overall verdict
The LED Lenser SEO3 is a fantastic entry-level headtorch which will make sure darkness is turned into brightness.
At a cost of €36.95, this headlamp produces up to 100 lumens powered by just three regular AAA batteries. The light last up to 40 hours, so you shouldn't worry to much about running out of light during an ultra event or an extra long fishing trip. Although this headtorch is perfect, we gave it 85 as a score, this as we know that there are more powerful and rechargeable lights (although pricier) within Led Lenser's range. We don't believe you can buy a better entry-level headtorch than the SEO3. We love this torch, and we can't wait to see what the more powerful LED Lenser headtorches can do.

Lumens: max.100 lm - min 15 lm
Lighting range: max. 100 m - min. 10m
Power: 3 x AAA batteries (Non-rechargeable)
Water resistance: IPX6
The first thing we can say about this light is how simple it is. This simplicity doesn't affect the comfort of wearing this headtorch at all. The headstrap is a single elastic, but it does the job and keeps the torch in place.
The simplicity of this torch is also reflected in the operation of it. Switching the torch on or off is simply done by pressing the white button on top of the battery pack.

The same button is also used to switch between the different light programs and functions. The Led Lenser SEO3 contains 2 different diodes, a white one and a red one.
Where the white one is perfect for normal use, it is bright. So when your eyes have become accustomed to the darkness, it is sometimes better to use the red light as it will keep your eyes used to the low ambient light.
By simply holding the on/off switch pressed in for 2 seconds, you will switch between white or red diode.

There are also multiple light programs:
In the white diode setting, you have the following light programs: Full brightness, low brightness and signal (flashing)
In the red diode setting, you have Full brighness and signal (flashing).
A great feature on this light is the lock feature. Keep the on/off button pressed in for more than 5 seconds, and you can be sure that the light doesn't go on and drains your batteries during transportation.
And then we have the lens itself. The headtorch can be focused by rotating the reflector lens. The light can also be swivelled for close light or lighting up the surroundings further away.
The headstrap can be removed for a wash if needed.
Out in the field, this entry-level headtorch is simply stunning. The light it emits is more than enough to see where you run/walk. The battery life is impressive, this headtorch keeps going and going. We tested it in dry weather, heavy rainshowers and torrential rain, and whatever you throw at it, it doesn't stop doing what it does best... lighting up your surroundings!

How we tested it
We have been using the LED Lenser SEO3 during our hikes, camping trips,... along the Wild Atlantic Way, Ireland. So you can be sure that the headtorch has been exposed to water, a lot of it in the form of drizzle, rain and showers, heavy ones and light ones.
